(So you know, I was trying to think of a good Latin sentence to put as the title but nothing I thought of was good besides this! It literally means "in the fantasy world" or something like that. XD)
Sand. There was sand beneath Lev's feet. Sparkling brown sand, as if it was from an ethereal desert.
Lev whirled around in confusion and fear, his sudden change in surroundings making him uncomfortable. He was in some sort of desert, now, that had five buildings spread around on the brown sand. Four of these were old and decrepit, looking like pictures of various ancient structures Lev had seen in books a few times; the last one was a huge tower that seemed to shimmer from the glowing runes that were carved up and down its sides.
He stared, dumbstruck, for a few moments, then suddenly shook his head and remembered why he was there.
So, this is the mental world? he thought to himself. I wonder where to start...

With a loud keening cry, a large phoenix swooped low over Lev's head. The end of its long feathered tail just barely brushed through his hair as it trailed behind the bird.
The phoenix pulled up, climbing higher and higher into the air, and circled in the sky above Lev a few times, then took off towards one of the ruins, a large castle that had once obviously been quite beautiful and ornate.

(Sorry if I'm interfering. I figured since Simon was once a censor, he would still have censor friends, so I figured the censor-kraken could be one. I'll delete this if you don't want me in it. Also, if he's in censor form, he can go into the mental world without the help of a portal or brain tumbler. He is in censor form right now.)
Meanwhile, Simon had entered the mental world hours ago and had spent some time talking with one of his old censor associates. "That's right, you told that girl you had eight legs from the start and-" The kraken let out a quiet roar. "What do you mean someones coming?" Simon looked at a figure in dark clothing that was several feet ahead of them. "Hm...thats unusual." Another roar from the kraken as he got off. "I'm just gonna talk to him, what could go wrong? Besides, I'll contact you when I'm sure he's non-peaceful." He called out to the man as censor-kraken once more went underneath the sand. "HEY! You lost?"

Lev's head snapped to the side when he heard Simon's voice echo out across the desert; he was greeted by the sight of an impeccably small, black-and-green haired person walking across the sand towards him. His glasses reflected the small amount of light in such a way that his eyes were invisible.
Lev took an uncertain step back and quirked an eyebrow.
"...Who are you?" he asked skeptically, beginning a stare down with Simon.

Simon looked over the man. He seemed nervous; was this his first time in the mental world? "I'm a censor, but you can call me Simon." Simon smiled and said his next comment the way he would to a frightened animal. "And relax, I'm not going to hurt you in any way...so you can stop the stare down." Simon said the last part with a slight irritation. "Anyways, what are you doing here? Mallaidh won't be the happiest when she finds out you're in here." (and yes, Simon does know who's mind he's in now.)

Lev quickly regained his composure and looked down at the boy. This childlike thing- a Censor, he'd called himself- knew where he was and what to do. Perhaps he could use this boy.
"Yes. Well... I need to find her. Mallaidh, I mean. She's unconscious now and I need to get her back out. Can you help me find her?" He gave the boy a hopeful look with the last part.

"Hm...likely she'd be in the large newer looking building in the center of the ruins." Simon gestured to the large building in the distance. "I suppose I could help you out, but why is she unconscious? And more importantly, why do you need her conscious again?" Simon could have sworn the man seemed a tad nervous when he said that, so he changed the subject. "But I'm sure that doesn't matter! Anyway, you definately can't do this on your own, so you'll most likely need my help."

"Ah, thank you..." Lev said, making a note to keep calmer. Deceiving this boy would be easier than he thought.

"Right then, if you want to see her, we'll need keys." Simon looked at the man. He seemed nice. A little under trusting, but nice. Thats when he noticed the man's hand twitch slightly, and frowned. He suddenly had a feeling he couldn't trust this man. He glared, but made sure it was unnoticeable.

"And where might those be, er... Simon?" Lev asked, trying to appear stupid so the kid wouldn't notice anything- unlike himself, who'd noticed Simon's glare straight away.

With another loud cry the phoenix reappeared, circling above the pair again. It dove a few times, trying to get their attention. Finally it made one incredibly low pass over both of their heads, purposefully hitting them with its long tail feathers.

"Oh great, it's you again." Simon said, looking at the phoenix. Simon ignored the bird. "I actually have the keys with me. You'll have to position yourself right if you want them. Now move to the left a bit." Lev did so. "No, no, you were better where you were before." Lev moved back into place. "Perfect! Now stay right there." Simon momentarily tapped his foot on the ground. After a few seconds, the sand rumbled and suddenly burst where Lev was.
When the dust cleared, the kraken had his tentacles around Lev, Lev's arms and legs in the squid/censor's grip. "Admit it, you think I'm stupid, don't you? And the truth this time, or I'll have calamari-breath here eat you like a minnow. " The kraken held Lev above it's gaping mouth the emphasize this. "Now, who are you? And why do you want her so badly?"

Lev gasped and shook sand dust out of his hair, struggling in the Kraken-Censor's grip. No one ever said anything about monsters bursting out of the ground.
"O-okay! I'll talk!" he yelled desparately. "M-my name is Lev; I think... Mallaidh... saw my memories or something; she said she was retrocognitive a-and I think I knocked her out when I brushed my hand over her arm- o-on accident! Not planned..." A look of dread began to worm into Lev's features as he realized the truth in his words had much greater implications for him: this woman- this Psychonaut- had seen his entire life, probably; including what he'd been doing at Thorney Towers' ruins. That information was far too dangerous to leave in a government agent's psyche!
He shook himself out of his train of thought and followed up with, "Th-those memories are personal! I don't want her to have them!!"

Simon stared momentarily, then grinned. "Glad to see you could cooperate Lev. Set him down squidy." The kraken seemed a tad disappointed, but set the man near Simon none the less. Simon now knew who the man was, but still felt like he was hiding something from him. "In that case, the keys your looking for are in the ruined towers surrounding the newer looking building, witch by the way, is a library if you were wondering. You'll need me if you want to get them, because even thought this is someone else's mind, I have connections to all the censor monsters in this place. For example, see squidy." Simon gesture to squidy, who waved as if on command.

Lev edged away from the Kraken-Censor with a shiver. "Th-thank you for telling me where those keys are... Simon." He quickly dusted off his coat and pants. "Shall we get going?"
