Simon nodded. "Now, witch building should we go into first? Your choice." Simon hoped he would pick the Labyrinth. He truthfully wanted to ditch Lev.

Lev looked at the four decrepit buildings. They were a stately castle, a step pyramid, a fortress, and a Coliseum-like structure.
"Let's try that one first," he said in a commanding tone, pointing to the pyramid.

"Fair enough." Simon climbed atop the Censor-Kraken's head, looking down at Lev when he hadn't fallowed. "It's faster then on foot." Simon said, matter-of-factly.

Skeptically, Lev levitated up and seated himself behind Simon, readying himself for the ride. It was luck that Lev managed to shield himself when the Kraken-Censor suddenly dove downwards through the sand at a terrifying speed, on a direct course for the pyramid.

Simon (not wanting the man to know he was psychic) had scooted into Lev's shield. "So...maybe we could learn more about each other while we're waiting." He gave a hopeful smile.

Lev quirked an eyebrow at the Censor. "I'm... not all that interested in talking right now," he said slowly.

"Aw..come on. Don't be such a stiff. You act like you've never had human contact before." Simon now seemed a bit concerned for Lev. "Apparently you're a psychic, right? Were you born with powers or did you get them from somewhere else?"

Lev gave Simon a cold glare. "Yes, I was... born with these powers..." he answered tentatively, not all that eager to spill his worst experiences to a young boy who almost had him eaten by a huge squid-creature just moments before.

"...something tells me you aren't really a people person." Simon said nervously, a tad frightened by his glare. It beat his own by a mile.

"No, not really," Lev replied drily, and looked back forward, feeling the Kraken-Censor angle upwards beneath the two of them.

Simon remained silent the rest of the way. "We appear to be nearing the pyramid." He said after the silence.

"I think so as wel-" Lev began to reply, when suddenly the Kraken-Censor burst up through the shimmering sand at the foot of the weathered step pyramid and came to a stop, giving Simon an affirmative roar.

"Good job squidy!" Simon said enthusiastically as he hopped off. "Good boy!" He happily fed it what appeared to be a dog biscuit and praised him momentarily. When Lev looked at him oddly, Simon responded, "What? Can't keep the best dogs tamed for long. Stay here until we get back squidy." The Censor-Kraken almost seemed to heel.

Lev slid off the leviathan's back quickly, eager to get off the monster of a Censor. The Russian looked up at the pyramid, an expression of repressed awe on his face.
It was magnificent, even in its disuse. There were thousands of intricate carvings, worn down by age, that covered its surface and were, in turn, covered sparsely with creepers and vines. It was also obvious that this place may have been used for sacrifice, as faded, dry-looking brown-red blood stained the steps higher up. At the top, Lev could have sworn he saw the vague outline of something- perhaps a cougar? A lion?- prowling at the edge of the platform.
"I suppose that key you talked about is at the top?" Lev asked absentmindedly, trying to watch the prowling shadow atop the pyramid.

"Yep. And that's a censor-jaguar if your wondering." Simon momentarily ran his fingers over one of the carvings. "Luckily, it seems the real guardian isn't here."
