Cannon Or Original?: Original character, dudes~
Character Name: Jacob O'Neill (will not respond to this)
Aliases: Quagmire Fluxion, Quag, Quaggy, Boris, Othello, Eric, Andrew, Belulah, Nate, and Harold. (He'll only respond to one of the last seven if he's in the right mindset.)
Special Abilities: Extreme empathic psychic abilities, and extreme flexibility.
Profession: None (unemployed)
Skills: His fine-tuned empathy allows him to know (on a very close level) what a person is feeling or even thinking. He's also a huge people person and very understanding because of this. Quagmire is also very, very, VERY good at running.
Weaknesses: Quagmire cannot control any of his powers. He doesn't really realize that he has them, and thinks that everybody is like him (aka, very understanding and nice). He also has a serious case of Multiple Personality Disorder; he has eight different personalities (the first one is his own, and the other seven are the new ones.)
Special Note: Quagmire started out suffering from PDD, a psychic disease in which a person's mind begins to deteriorate and fall apart. However, his PDD turned into another condition that only happens with empaths: his mind began to take 'personality clues' from other peoples' psyches, which in turn created alternate personalities and turned into Multiple Personality Disorder.
Age: 28
Gender: Male
Description: Quag is a tall, lanky man, standing at 6' 3" when completely upright. He has very pale blond hair that has been permanently spiked into two rabbit ear-like spikes on the top of his head. The tips of his hair has also been dyed light blue (one of his favorite colors.) His eyes are a very dark brown, and his skin is fair.
Clothing Style/Uniform: Quag wears a black t-shirt layered over a black-and-white striped long-sleeved shirt (with belts sewn onto the arms, in case he needs to be restrained). He wears gray dress pants and simple brown shoes to finish his outfit.
Family: Julia O'Neill, younger sister, deceased.
Personality: This is the hard part. OK, I'm just going to describe each of his personalities...
Quagmire Fluxion: The default personality. Sweet, kind, silly, a people person, caring, and the most dominant of the eight personalities he has. He’s in love with Jimmy Floyde (<3), though neither of them really realize it.
Boris: The marine. Gruff, serious, ‘all work no play gets things done’ sort of person. He is very into military stuff, though since Quagmire has such a limited knowledge of warfare and suchlike, he often uses incorrect terms. He’s anti-affection.
Othello: The actor. He’s melodramatic, charming, expressive, and eager to please. He’s more likely to pop up here and there. He’s flirtatious, but never makes a permanent commitment.
Eric: The artist. He’s creative, generally good-natured, and reserved. He enjoys painting with any media he can get his hands on, but becomes upset when people mess up what he’s working on, or even watch him as he works. He dislikes Jimmy because of how many times he’s messed up a perfectly fine painting.
Andrew: The fire-eater. Very outgoing, pompous, friendly, and eager to show people what he can do. He has limited control over Quag’s pyrokinetic abilities, but doesn’t realize it. Often likes to show off his fire-eating abilities.
Belulah: The drag queen. Outrageous, queen-ish, silly, but can still beat someone up if someone gets on, er, ‘her’ bad side. Sometimes, Quagmire will actually find a dress and attempt to put it on when in Belulah-mode. Likes Jimmy a lot, but not in a romantic sense.
Nate: The geek. Quiet, introverted, cautious, and intelligent is he. Enjoys noodling around with computers and machinery, often gutting them and not knowing how to put them back together again. Is a little scared of Jimmy because of his rambunctiousness.
Harold: The psychopath. This guy is a MAJOR head case: he’s cruel, sadistic, threatening, unnervingly confident, and just downright mean. He, unlike Quag’s other personalities, realizes that he has psychic abilities- and unfortunately, he uses them. His specialty is pyrokinesis, and his confusion and invisibility are his weakest.
Quirks: Quagmire sometimes levitates when he gets surprised (he’s an empath/levitator when in his normal persona, so he’s naturally good enough to do it without a ball). If he gets angry or upset, small objects like rocks or sticks can sometimes get flung from where they’re sitting by his subconscious TK. Occasionally he TKs himself, too. He also doesn’t realize when he changes personalities; he claims to ‘black out’ and doesn’t realize what he’s done until someone tells him.
Also, his mood, thoughts, and personality are influenced by the moods, thoughts, and personalities of the people closest to him. So, if he’s with people who are mostly happy, he’ll become happy and be more likely to stay Quagmire; if he’s with actors, he’s more likely to turn into Othello, his actor-persona; if he’s around meaner people, he’d likely turn into Boris, or (God forbid) Harold.
Likes: Stability, Jimmy, ice cream, hugs, dinosaurs, playing around, jumping, Jimmy, the Psychonauts, kids, Jimmy, niceness, understanding people, being around people (especially Jimmy), and random things. (He’d also like his powers if he knew about them.)
Dislikes: Instability, his mood swings, Harold, melted ice cream, flying in airplanes, pollen (he’s allergic), mean people, being alone, being around mean people, Harold, asylums, getting tied up, and too many straight-laced people. (Did I mention Harold? He reeeeeally hates Harold.)
History: The magnificent wreck you are now reading about was not so magnificent nor wrecked in the past: before anyone had ever even heard of an insane man by the name of Quagmire Fluxion, there was a young, twenty-something office worker by the name of Jacob O’Neill.
Jacob was a kind, caring young man; unfortunately, both he and his younger sister Julia had a terrible genetic disease called PDD that would eventually tear their minds apart if it got out of hand. They were trying desperately to scrape together enough money for treatment; however, Jacob’s job didn’t pay well and Julia was already too absentminded to hold one.
Both of them continued to get more ill with their disease, and Jacob was beginning to get extremely unstable. If more angry people were around him, he was angry; if people were sad, he was sad. However, neither knew why this happened (since neither knew that Jacob was psychic), and it didn’t happen often enough to be of worry.
One night, Jacob’s boss approached him: it was an office rumor that the boss was involved in crime, but only tonight was it verified for Jacob. His boss asked him to do some dirty work for him: “Kill this man, and you’ll get a bigger raise than you’ve ever gotten,” he’d told Jacob. And poor Jacob, under the influence of his illness and that odd instability, agreed to do the job. He only later realized what he’d done, and was, to be frank, horrified. It didn’t help that, just about a week after he’d murdered the man and realized it, Julia became so bad she had to be hospitalized.
All this stress came down incredibly hard on poor Jacob, making him more unstable than ever before; he was also becoming scared- something was hugely wrong with him, and it wasn’t just the PDD anymore. Late one night, he quit his job and managed to make it to the nearest mental institution, where he pleaded for them to let him in because he thought he was going insane.
A quick check later verified that he had, indeed, become a victim of Multiple Personality Disorder, and he was kept in the institution. During his time in the asylum- and the other asylums he was eventually sent to- he met Jimmy Floyde, and the two were thick as thieves right from the beginning. Since he was around Jimmy so much, Quagmire- as he’d begun calling himself- became more cheery and random; he became more like Jimmy, in a sense.
Eventually, the asylum the two were in became rundown and was abandoned, and the two of them had to survive on their own in there. Eventually, the two were found by the Psychonauts and rescued from the old place- and transferred to an asylum run by the Psychonauts, themselves.
Now, the two are at Whispering Rocks as part of their therapy, since some Psychonauts believe that if the two could tap into their latent powers, they’d become more able to combat their mental illnesses. And so, for now, they’re hanging around WR to learn how to be truuuue psychics! Woohoo!
