Cannon Or Original?: Original ~
Character Name: Renola Beverly Vegas
Aliases: Reno is what nearly everyone (aside from her parents) call her. Those who do call her Renola often find themselves at the wrong end of a devil’s stick.
Special Abilities: Though Reno isn’t exactly psychic, she does have an interesting ability to read other people’s emotions just by looking into their eyes. After years of working around tangled emotions, she’s become very good at reading expressions underneath expressions so it’s very hard to fool her. Though 99 percent of the time, she could care less to know how other people feel and will simply pass over her ability completely unless, of course, she feels like you’re lying to her. Then, you best have yourself a pair of sunglass handy. ~
Profession: Ringmaster, full time guardian/older sister, and has the potential to be a drill sergeant.
Skills: Since she was a little girl, Reno has been following in the footsteps of her Great Great Grandfather and has learned nearly every circus act there is. She can juggle with the best of them, ride a horse, walk a high wire, and tame a lion without even batting an eyelash. Reno can also sew with the best of them and, if it can be counted as a skill, make anyone feel like a failure. With one look of disapproval, she can cast out any confidence in a person. (or so she thinks since her sisters were never very confident to begin with)
Weaknesses: Reno is terribly lazy and prefers to make other people take the heat for her so when she is caught and scolded for her faults she’s never sure how to handle it. This can result in temper flares as well as complete breakdowns. She’s also deathly afraid of anything not mammal. Snakes, spiders, and even some birds will send her running in the opposite direction screaming until her lungs give out and, despite her stern nature toward them, she would risk her life for her sisters. Call it sisterly love, call it making sure her parents have no reason to write an angry letter. Either way, it can get her into some tight spots.
Special Note: Reno and her sisters are passing through Whispering Rock on their trip to their next show and she is the ringleader of one of the most unaccomplished circus troops around.
Age: 23 years old.
Gender: Female
Description: Reno is the type of person who spends half her day perfecting a very specific look and the other half flaunting it shamelessly like a peacock. She isn’t all that tall, around 5 foot 7, and is terribly thin as she is a strict vegetarian who barely eats. Her hair is very dark shade of blue and runs down the length of her back if she does not have it up in a high ponytail of braid and her sisters claim it means more to her than anything. Reno’s eyes are a very foggy purple color that never seem to show any emotion other than a very pure rage and stand out against her skin which is tinted a light violet to match. All in all, she is a pretty yet somewhat off-putting woman with an air of superiority and a constant anger, but don’t tell her that. Reno will like you more if you call her pretty.
Clothing Style/Uniform: As with her physical looks, Reno’s own personal style is something she always keeps in absolute order whether rain or shine. Unlike the way she makes her sisters dress, she has a much more modern style for those days when she goes out to “advertise” aside from her stage makeup which she never seems to go without. The makeup comes in the form of a very intricate design of vines spanning from her eyes to the sides of her face and vary in color depending on the day and is usually covered in glitter to make it stand out more when she’s in the spotlight. Her clothing come in the form of a light, bright red vest trimmed with what could very possibly be rabbit fur and a pair of dark jeans which covers a very glittery leotard and tights and her jewelry is nothing less than eye-catching; usually rhinestones of fake gems. It takes a lot to get her to reveal her practice uniform if she’s not performing, but one might catch a glimpse of it when she’s teaching her sisters. Other than that she tries her best to look ‘trendy’. Her shoes can range anywhere from ballet slippers to combat boots (though she seems to prefer the boots more) and she usually wears a pair of gloves so as to spare her perfectly manicured nails from the elements.
Family: Mother: Jean L. Marlene - Accomplished seamstress in her little hometown and currently living at home with her husband.
Father: Harold C. Vegas - Dead beat father who went missing a few years ago and is only known to be alive through letters and phone calls received at random when he sees fit.
Siblings: Epona - One of Reno’s troop members and the second oldest. She is supposed to be a trick rider on horses, but don’t hold your breath. She’s terrified of them.
Atlanta - Third oldest sister and also a member of the troop, she was trained to be a tight rope walker until she realized that practice ropes and the real thing had a horribly huge height difference.
Jacques - The youngest and most unappreciated sister, she struggles to learn juggling and is the subject of all Reno’s rage since she joined the troop when she was much too young.
Personality: Though most will blame Reno’s undeniable attitude problem on her lack of time to herself, she is simply vengeful by nature. Her lack of concern for anyone but herself gives her a cold way of treating others and she couldn’t care less. It’s not uncommon for her to simply ignore everyone and it’s even more likely that she’ll intrude on a conversation to put in her own opinion (whether you want it or not) At times, she can be very high-strung and even a bit unpredictable in her moods, but never expect her to treat you with sympathy of concern. It is a rare moment when she feels any guilt at all.
Though she’s never really had much in life, Reno is very much a spoiled girl who wants what she wants and will no doubt do anything to get it, but this isn’t always a good thing. She feels the need to always be one step ahead of everyone in life and possessions and does have a tendency to brag and make things up just to seem a bit more on top of things. This is mostly because of a fear of losing her position in the world. Reno holds her superiority over her sisters very highly and knows that, like with wolves, if she shows one hint of weakness, she’ll be thrown from her alpha position in a matter of seconds. It is also because of this that she will NEVER turn down a challenge. Be it a shot at her skill or an assumption that she can’t do something, Reno will take on anything just to prove herself a bit more to the world and will bet everything she has in the process. More than once, she’s bet her entire troop on whether or not she can do a task and thankfully she has yet to lose.
As well, Reno doesn’t like to see her sisters give in. She wants things done and will force you to do them which is both good and bad. Sometimes she’s a bit too pushy for her own good and can cause some deep ruts in any relationship, but in her eyes, it’s all for the good of her family. Reno wants the best and only best of everything.
Quirks: Whistling whenever she hears a bird, wandering off somewhere or locking herself away to sew, yelling even when she doesn’t need to, sputtering incoherently.
Likes: Winning (this is a big one), keeping up with the world in every way, compliments, laughing at other people’s expense, any chance to show someone else up, being the center of attention, and anything with strawberries (seriously, she flips for strawberries)
Dislikes: Anyone saying she can’t, losing, her sisters, the color yellow, being told she’s wrong, being embarrassed, dirt, and when someone steals the attention from her.
History: When Reno was just a little girl, she spent most of her life with her Great Grandfather; a renowned performer and the kind of man to fuel the dreams of his sweet little granddaughter. Unfortunately, not all people take polite and generous support so well. Reno became so obsessed with the fact that she could do anything, that it turned into a bit of an arrogant nature that no one bothered to fix. As grew up, she trained herself hard for everything. Voice, dance, acting, sports, Reno strived to be the best at everything and it turned to more of a competitive nature rather than a need to prove herself. Through school, she was the kind of person that had all the friends in the world just because everyone wanted a piece of her glory, but she knew very well they weren’t truly there for her. She didn’t need anyone other than her dear friend The Spotlight. It was only when the rest of her sisters came along that Reno realized the only way to keep the world’s attention was to make herself a real star.
After Epona and Atlanta were old enough to walk and talk, they began to follow in their sister’s footsteps though whether they did it on their own will isn’t quite sure. Whatever Reno said, went and they learned fast not to question it. When their dad left, things only got worse. Money became scarce and they were all forced to quit school and start work early. Their mother couldn’t support them on her meager sewing business and it became their job to support themselves with whatever they could manage. It was Reno who hatched the plan that started the Vegas Sister Circus. In a last attempt at stardom and a bit of money for their mother, they spent whatever they had and prepared themselves for the life of a circus troop. However, one minor set back came in the form of the youngest sister, Jacques. This set back their plans until she was five and when they at last set off, Reno found herself as the surrogate mother of a small child.
But she made the best of it for her own sake. After all, she couldn’t let the world think she was some hateful shrew because that wouldn’t be good for her image. So they started their journey; Reno training her sisters like dogs in whatever she saw fit; not caring that her circus troop was the biggest failure around. Being the only one with talent, she kept the spotlight at every second and wouldn’t give it up for anything. Recently, they stopped in the woods just outside Whispering Rock on their way to a small city over the mountain and have taken to wandering about the grounds (though how they got in, no one really knows)
Picture: None as of yet. Give me a bit and I’ll finish one.
