Alistair finally reached Josephine's side, and his face became even sadder when he saw how upset she was. Quickly, he knelt down beside her and pulled one side of his trench coat over her head and shoulders. "Jo, I'm sorry, I really am, I didn't- I didn't mean to make you get so upset-" He stopped talking and bit his lip, glancing away from her for a moment in guilt. If you leave her like this, she'll just get worse, he heard something say. It may have been his conscience, or maybe it was just himself, but it seemed to give the Psychonaut the courage to say what needed to be said.
"Josephine, I'm sorry that he's not coming, and that you're so upset... but honestly, he doesn't need to come. I'm here, and... and I love you. And you can bet that I always will." The words sounded like a vow, if not the most eloquent one.
Alistair then put his arms around Jo's shoulders and hugged her close. A part of him said to himself that it was just to help keep them both a little drier, but you never know....

Josephine suddenly stopped crying. Then, as if rewired after listening to what he said, the vague shadowy image of 'the guy' became Alistair.
She blinked for a moment not sure what to say and then suddenly spoke, "Why are you sayeeng zese zings? You're the guy! And you sure took your sweet time!" she gave a little pout but smiled again, "Ah, I'm sure you 'ad a good reason! All zat matters eez zat you're here now!"
The clients all looked in pure shock, the rain was letting up a bit but it wasn't completely gone. Josephine had to hear his response. Lambda gave a puzzled look at all of the events. First this guy was able to get her out of the restaurant... Now he had her thinking HE was the guy she'd been waiting for. He continued to watch as Grincheux gave a huff.

Alistair's expression was a little confused for a moment. She thought he was the guy she'd been waiting for- how did she get that out of what he'd said? Of course, this was the mental world... The astral planes of peoples' minds often just used symbols to show what was going on in there. More likely than not, this was what should happen. Jo’s mind would be on the mend, finally. The only thing worrying him was the continuing rain, but he hoped that with his next actions that would be fixed as well…
“Yeah…” Alistair murmured, looking to Josephine with a warm smile. “I’m sorry I kept you waiting so long… you look beautiful…” He loosened the hug for a moment so that he could look her full in the face, smiling softly. Then, he leaned forward and gave her a soft kiss on the lips, closing his eyes and hugging her again as he did so.

Josephine's eyes widened but quickly closed as she kissed him back, wrapping her arms around him.
The clients gasped and smiles appeared on all of their faces, even Grincheaux's. It was an incredible sight for them to see. Josephine, happy again and out of the restaurant. Lambda grinned and glanced over at the restaurant while chuckling.
Suddenly the rain stopped. The clients quickly looked up and were in shock once again. It'd been raining for so long... Now the sun was coming back out and it was no longer night. Dawn appeared. The clients ran away to celebrate somewhere else in the city and leave Josephine and Alistair to their moment.
Josephine temporarily broke the kiss to look at the rainless and cloudless sky. She smiled and kissed him again, glad she had finally found the thing she had been looking for all those years.
Back in the restaurant the waiter was sitting at an empty table, smoking a cigarette angrily.
In the restaurant window, for the first time ever, the sign read "Closed".
