DERPDERP. OK I HOPE I DID THIS RIGHT AKLDJAS. And this is probably terrible because I'm too tired to think... I'm sure I'll look back at it tomorrow and cringe at half of it. XD BUT WHATEVSSSS.
Character’s Name: Gustav
Look of Door: Very nice wooden double-doors with some sort of intricate glasswork, similar to THIS but with some fading and such around the esdges from water damage. It'd also have water droplets on the inside of the windows at pretty much all times, as his mind is raining frequently.
Name of Mental World: Deluge Estate*
Look of Censors: Relatively normal, perhaps wearing ballroom attire.
Basic Layout:
The main area (where all plot-related things are going on) is the inside of his old mansion. It has the typical fancy rich look- Virtually the whole thing is white with either silver or marbled gray trims, wall hangings, and other such decorations. Anything that would normally be a warm color, such as red or orange, is replaced by either white, gray, blue, or purple, which gives the whole house a kind of icy look.
The house seems to be in a constant 'party', with a lot of guests in the ballrooms and dining hall all dressed up in fancy attire* and mingling with each-other. Like the house itself, the colors on all the people are white, gray, and pale gray-ish shades of purple and blue. If Gustav tries to talk to anyone he'll get absolutely no responce and no signs of recognition for even being there. To almost everyone in his mind, Gustav is completely invisible.
There are two floors- The upstairs is mostly hallways and smaller rooms, including Gustav's room, with the longest hallway ending in "The Lachrymose". Downstairs has the ballrooms, big dining hall, family's lounge, and kitchen.
Gustav's parents spend most of their time in the lounge, either alone or with a group of guests, and are dressed more flamboyantly than anyone else.
As a tradition in the mental worlds of Psychonauts, each mind has to have it's own creepy little trait, and in the case of Gustav's mind it's the fact that his parents are invisible. Save for their clothing, none of their body seems to exist at all. All the guests in the mind appear to see them as being there, but Gus (and any non-mental being visiting his mind) see only the two moving outfits.
In the kitchen is where one of the only friendly faces resides- The chef, Alex.
On the upper floor, many of the rooms are locked, but the few that you can enter will usually contain censors, figments, or the occasional mental health/ball of hate/etc. I haven't decided the look of Gustav's actual room, or if it will be of any significance, so I'll just update when I come to a decision. x)
Down a long hallway, at the far end of the mansion, there's a small room- The Lachrymose. It's a very nice, clean, and beautifully antique-looking room, with a nice collection of books as well as some plants, a ball globe, etc... But at the top of the dome-roofed room is a heavy cloud inside that sends down a steady flow rain on everything within the one room. Everything in the room would be ruined if not for the wandering girl who tends to it...
There is pretty much no chance that you will actually step outside, but if you did then you'd be faced with a pretty big natural area. There's a large open grassy space off to one side with no trees around and a perfect view of the sky, while the other side has a more wooded area complete with a marshy stream running through. But the average person won't spend much time appreciating these things because the outside is in a constant and unpredictable thunderstorm, sometimes dropping hail and on a very very rare occasion it may give a small break and give some snow.
Important People:
Mental-Gustav: He's virtually identical to the real-world Gus, with the only major differences being in personality. The mental Gus isn't nearly as sure of himself and a bit more tucked in his shell- He longs for the fabled feeling of parental love, for his mom and dad to actually realize he exists, but with both his mental-parents being nonexistent it's unlikely to ever happen.
He dresses similar to how he does in the real world, with lots of Red stripes, black, and some yellows here and there. With these colors he's a dramatic contrast to everyone and virtually everything else in the mind.
Ciel*: Also known as "The Wandering Girl", or "Fille de L'errance", this blue-haired girl is one of the only mental beings in Gus' mind that actually recognizes his existence. She's also the only one of the few people that will leave their preferred room and move freely about the mansion, hence her nicknames. Although she is dressed nicely for the 'party', her dress isn't nearly as flashy or intentionally eye-catching as most of the other guests' gowns. It's colored in dark gray and teal, which is enough variation from the other people around the mansion that Gus- and any mental world visitors- can easily recognize her.
She spends the majority of her time in the Lachrymose- keeping the books safe and dry, making sure the antiques don't rust, and protecting the plants from drowning. Before she'd arrived the room was in a constant hailstorm and everything eas either damaged, destroyed or dead... But she's slowly been bringing them back to a good and healthy state by just giving them the attention they need.
Alex*: As a chef for a constantly-going party, you would expect Alex to be forever busy, but even so he's willing tot ake time out when he can to talk to Gustav. This rather tall, brown-haired man has always been a huge help to Gus, giving him answers for anything he might want to know. Of course, his answers aren't always the best or most accurate things, as he tends to think he knows something more than he actually does... But he is still a smart man who is always there to give Gus a hand.
Basic Plot: You'll enter the mind at the front door with your first objective (which will surely be explained once the character encounters Gus) being to find a way to ask the chef, Alex, for help. Gus just wants to be recognized, to be noticed by his parents for just once in his life, and seeing that this new person in the mind can see him gives him a new motivation. Problem is that he can't simply walk up to Alex and ask for some advice (just like how you can't simply walk into Mordor HAHA I MADE A FUNNY), so you have to help him find a way to ask without just flat-out asking. Good luck with that one.
Once you actually get the advice you must then figure out how- if possible- to actually use it. A series of events occur, blahblah (not giving away too much so as not to spoil any future RPs) and for his mind to truly be 'settled' (which I don't expect any one character to do, as there's quite a chain of events that would lead to this revolution) Gus will have to realize that he doesn't need to work towards getting attention from his parents- There are people who care for him without asking him to prove himself.
AM I DOIN THIS WRONG? If so, tell me and I'll fix it.
Reasoning for Mental World: (FGSFDS I already said like all of this stuff in his regular application but oh well)
As a child, Gustav's parents paid very little attention to him. They spent so much time with the business that they never did anything with him. For the first few years he was just raised by the maids and nurses, but when he got to be a little older he spent more and more time with one of the chefs, who ended up as his only true friend (there were a lot of people, namely his private tutors and all their home staff, that liked him... But they just weren't friends).
To his parents, Gustav barely existed, so most people in the mind simply can't hear or see him at all. Meanwhile for Gustav, his parents were simply never there for him, so in his mind they literally aren't there- Their clothes are, but their shapes are not.
Ciel is a representation of Evan and how she is repairing him in giving him the attention, understanding, and care he'd needed.
Basically, it's all about his desire to feel like someone out there actually knows and cares that he exists.
There are a whooooollle lot of other little symbolisms in there, too, but my brain just died out on me and I can't think of them. This think will need an update sometime soon anyway, since I'd like to get ridiculously in-depth. xD
(BY THE WAY. Little *s by things means that things may be changed. Names, ideas, or just specific designs and things... In my next update I'll probably update all these things!)
