Cannon Or Original?: Original. (I need to decide if I wanna play a canon... XD)
Character Name: Marley Jackson
Aliases: Freakboy, Freak
Special Abilities: He has limited Nightmare abilities, which are: the attack where they stick their arms into the ground and reach their arms up out of it a little distance away to attack you, amazing subterranean navigation skills, and he has small fangs that have the Nightmare paralysis poison in it. (Ask me about this if you're confused. XD)
Profession: SECRET CAMPER!
Skills: He's good at blending into the crowd, controlling himself around child psychics, and playing ping-pong. Seriously, he's a demon at that game. Do NOT try to take him on in a ping-pong match. Or a foosball match. He'll cream you. XD
Weaknesses: Marley finds it hard to control his instincts around powerful psychics (a.k.a. adult psychics other than his mother), and he's also ADD. In addition to that, he has a phobia of stairs, agoraphobia (fear of open spaces), and an obsession with the mental world, particularly the darker side of it.
Special Note: Marley is part Nightmare because of an odd incident that involved his mother in the mental world.
Age: 10
Gender: Male
Description: Marley's a short kid; he's about 5' tall head to foot. He has light brown hair that fades to a light lavender purple at the tips (Nightmare trait) and green eyes. His face is noseless as well, and he has small fangs (with poison glands) where his incisors should be. Poking out of his hair is a pair of long Nightmare 'antennae;' his are more flexible than the average Nightmare's, though. He has no other notable Nightmarish mutations; the rest of him is pretty average.
Clothing Style/Uniform: Marley wears a large-ish black beanie crammed on his head at all times to hide his antennae. In addition to this, he has a forest green sweatshirt that he wears over a pair of layered shirts: a long-sleeved red shirt under a purple one with a bright yellow 'scream' (think the yellow faces on Nightmares) design on the front. For his pants, he has gray dress pants with darker gray pinstripes going down, and simple black shoes.
Family: Moria and Thomas Jackson, his parents.
Personality: Marley is a quiet, soft-spoken boy. He grew up with the mantra of caution; always be careful in every situation. This has pervaded Marley's very person, now; he won't try much of anything until he knows it's safe, for both him and others. He's learned that he's dangerous, to both normal people and psychics; and so he acts with quiet caution, watching from the sidelines, until he's sure that things will be alright. He's also very nervy and worried a lot of the time, though if you can get him to come out of his shell he's much more kid-like.
Quirks: Aside from his phobias, obsession with the mental world, and ADD, Marley is an obsessive counter. He counts his steps, he counts the number of stones at the side of the road, he counts everything... when he's alone, he counts out loud, but when he's got people near him he does it in his head.
Likes: Stability, counting, his mom and dad, autumn (he doesn't get questions about why he wears a sweatshirt and a hat all the time), the mental world, learning about psychics, psychics.
Dislikes: His Nightmarish abilities/mutations/instincts, Nightmares, stairs, open spaces, being around adult psychics (too dangerous), his ADD, not having his beanie, and other things...
History: Marley is obviously not your average attendee to Whispering Rocks Psychic Summer Camp. He's far from it, in fact: he isn't even psychic. However, he's been allowed into camp on an exception because of his heritage.
His mother, Moria Jackson, is a Psychonaut. Once, she was on a mission and had to pull out of a mind because a Nightmare had attacked her when her mental health was low. She got out of the mind without a hitch, but the Nightmare came along with her into the real. She managed to get it off of her with ease, since its power had been depleted from being outside of the mental world, and sent it back into the person's mind with a broken antenna and a lesson to remember.
Unfortunately, that was not the end of the odd event. When Marley was born, he was discovered to have two long, thin, black antennae growing from the top of his head and had started to grow fangs when his teeth came in. The cause of this was startling; somehow, the Nightmare that had managed to come with her back to the real world that time had left some of its psychic imprint in her DNA, which mutated and caused Marley's odd malady.
As Marley grew older, he and his family all noticed that he had trouble when he was around psychics; he says that he hears whispers that tell him to attack them. This is his Nightmarish genetic instinct acting. It only became very bad two years ago, when he had to go to a meeting at Psychonauts HQ with his mother (because his father was on a business trip) and caused a ruckus because he tried to attack the Grand Head of the Psychonauts, Truman Zanotto in a frenzy of Nightmarish influence. From there, Moria and Thomas decided to teach Marley to control his instincts so he could function in society; thus, he's been sent to Whispering Rocks this year to work with the counselors and learn to control himself around full-grown psychics, since he's already mastered it with younger ones whose powers aren't as focused yet.
He's having secret training down in Ford's Sanctum to keep him away from the other campers, because it wouldn't be so good if they knew a half-Nightmare was at camp, hmm?
